A race that brings family and friends together.

Our Saint Fennessy 4K is named after Don Fennessy, a longtime and loyal Grandma’s Marathon supporter who passed away in 2011. His daughter Kellie, was a longtime Board member and now is part of the marathon’s full-time staff.

Enter Jody Hepola and Kathy Lindahl. Jody and Kellie have been friends for more than 50 years, and Kathy was introduced some time ago to the friend group. Those three, in their way of remembering Don, have participated together in nearly every Saint Fennessy 4K, including this last Saturday!

With friends like these, you almost want to run SLOWER to make the race last LONGER.

Most people race for a fast finishing time. Libby Linnum, though, is racing for her life.

Last weekend, Libby ran with us at the Saint Fennessy 4K — her first race back after going into remission from leukemia following a bone marrow transplant.

“Every step today is about celebrating life and the people who helped me get here. It’s not about a finish time. I’m running for those who lost their battle with cancer and those still fighting.”

Staying active has been key to her recovery, and support has come from many different places in her training for last Saturday`s race.

“They want you to be active. My transplant doctor says the best thing you can do is be active. I made a board of all the comments people wrote to me, and when I was having a hard time, I read them. If you can support people in their journey, it means everything."

Just signing up and showing up was a win for Libby. As she crossed the finish line, she was rewarded with another — she beat her goal time by over a minute!

Well done Libby. We`re proud of you, and we hope to see you at more start lines in the future!
