Per Minnesota’s Deceptive Trade Practices Act, all listed race entry costs include surcharges and processing fees. 

Participants may pick up their race packets on Friday or Saturday of race week. NOTE: In-person registration will also be available, as space allows.

The Spider Dash Kids’ Races are FREE and open to all participants ages 14 & under. 

The kids’ races will start at 11:45 a.m., shortly after the conclusion of the main race. The kids’ races will take place on the track outside Wessman Arena, which is near the finish line of the main race.

Races will run continuously from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., so kids may join anytime and are allowed to run in multiple heats as space allows.

All participants are invited to participate in the Superior Nightmare 5K costume contest. Simply get your picture taken near the start-finish area outside Wessman Arena to be entered, and winners will be selected the following week via a public vote on our Facebook page.

Prizes will be available to the costume contest winners, which will include several different categories such as individual, group, kids, etc.

All Superior Nightmare 5K participants will receive a free drink ticket that can be used before 3:00 p.m. on race day at our official post-race party, hosted by Aces on 29th in Superior.

Free parking will be available for participants, spectators, and volunteers in the following lots near the start-finish area:

• Wessman Arena (2701 Catlin Avenue)
• Superior High School (2600 Catlin Avenue)
• Northern Lights Elementary School (1201 N. 28th Street)

To access any of these parking lots after 10:00 a.m. on race day, motorists can use North 28^th Street via Tower Avenue or US 2/Hwy 53 (via 18th Avenue East).

Road closures will be in effect from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. throughout the area impacted by the race, including parts of Hammond Avenue, Catlin Avenue, and North 21st Street. 

• At 10:00 a.m., Catlin Avenue will close between N. 28th Street Faxon Street. 

• Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the following road closures will be in effect:
  • Catlin Avenue will close between Faxon Street and the Yellowjacket Union (Catlin Avenue will remain open between Belknap Avenue and the Yellowjacket Union parking lot).
  • North 21st Street will close between Hammond Avenue and Catlin Avenue.
  • Hammond Avenue will close between North 18th Street and North 21st Street.
  • All streets that border Hammond Park will close.

• All roadways on the racecourse will close by 11:00 a.m. 

• Most roadways are expected to re-open by 12:15 p.m.  
  • Catlin Avenue and North 21st Avenue will remain closed for the Superior Spooktacular parade.

• Catlin Avenue will fully re-open no later than 1:00 p.m.

No pets, motor vehicles, bicycles, handcycles, hand-cranked wheelchairs, roller skis, inline skates, or unregistered participants are allowed on the racecourse.

Baby joggers and strollers are allowed at YAF events but must start in the back of the corral.

Pushrim wheelchair competitors, duo teams, and other adaptive athletes are encouraged to participate but must follow all Wheelchair & Adaptive Program Guidance. NOTE: Adaptive athletes are asked to contact Race Director Greg Haapala via phone at (218) 727-0947 prior to registering so that all reasonable accommodations can be provided.
