SCARE YOU THERE!

A spooky end to our annual racing calendar, the Superior Nightmare 5K brings us across the bridge to Superior and offers a chance to combine your love of running with Halloween!

In coordination with the city’s annual Superior Spooktacular, this event offers participants a mix of scary surprises and haunted hijinks to go along with a family-friendly costume race!

A race day costume contest will determine the day’s best-dressed, with fabulous prizes available to the top voted individuals, groups, and kids.

NEW IN 2024: Our annual Halloween race gets a new name and a new racecourse, with a move from the city’s north end to the University district and Hammond Park. The start and finish line will now be located near Wessman Arena and Superior High School, and the racecourse will run through the city’s unofficial “home of Halloween” on Hammond Avenue.

ONE SPOOKY SATURDAY

Spooky surprises and haunted hijinks greeted participants at the 2024 Superior Nightmare 5K, which saw a successful debut of its new racecourse in the city’s university district.

The race saw 576 participants cross the finish line in what was the SECOND LARGEST FIELD for this event, second only to the inaugural event in 2019.

Duluth East HS and College of St. Scholastica graduate Lauren Dynek set a new women’s event record, finishing the race in 19:56 and becoming the first woman in the event’s history to run under 20 minutes.

Duluthian Carter Vork, meanwhile, won the men’s race with a time of 18:24.

Huge congratulations to everyone who participated with determination and passion at this year’s event!

Whether you’ve been part of this race for years or were participating for the first time, we enjoyed having you as part of the 6th annual Superior Nightmare 5K!

Thanks to ALL who participated, the 2024 Superior Nightmare 5K raised

over $5,000

Every step. Every finisher. Every smile.

This is what your participation means. This money goes directly back to our Young Athletes Foundation. It goes to buy equipment, pay travel costs, fund scholarships, and more!

This money can, and will change lives.
