SATURDAYS ARE FOR KIDS

The Saturday Morning at the Races series is not only a wonderful way to connect with families in our community throughout the winter months, it’s also central to our mission at the Young Athletes Foundation.

Helping at a young age to build a love of running, these FREE events provide important pathways and opportunities for our community’s children to live healthy and active lifestyles.

Saturday Morning at the Races is FREE and open to any child ages 14 & under. Whether it’s your child’s first-ever race or they’ve already fallen in love with running, we’d love to see them at our next event!

THE GOOD OL’ HOCKEY GAME

In partnership with the UMD Athletics department, we are proud to extend our Saturday Morning at the Races series to now include our YAF Appreciation Day at AMSOIL Arena!

Not only does this event offer kids a unique opportunity to run in the concourse of AMSOIL Arena, the partnership also connects our participants with a hallmark of the Duluth sports scene — UMD hockey!

It’s the perfect chance to combine two great things in the community, so bring the whole family and join us at the good ol’ hockey game!

2026 YAF Appreciation Day @ AMSOIL Arena

It’s a bonus Saturday Morning at the Races, and it comes in the most Minnesotan way possible — a hockey game!

Join us for the 2026 YAF Appreciation Day at AMSOIL Arena, when all kids ages 14 & under are invited to participate in a FREE one-of-a-kind kids’ race around the concourse!

WHAT: YAF Appreciation Day
WHEN: Saturday, February 7 | Kids’ Races Start at 12:30 p.m.

YOUNG ATHLETES FOUNDATION
The mission of the Young Athletes Foundation (YAF) is to assist in the promotion, development, and growth of youth athletics and activities that encourage physical fitness, mental, and emotional well-being.

Since its inception in 1990, the YAF has contributed more than $1.8 million of community support through our grant program, running shoe program, and both the Eleanor Rynda and Steve & Carolyn Mather scholarships. The organization also hosts several kids’ events throughout the year including our Wednesday Night & Saturday Morning at the Races series.

The YAF’s mission is helped and funded by various road races throughout the year — KP Challenge, Saint Fennessy 4K, Fitger’s 5K, Park Point 5-Miler, Minnesota Mile, and Superior Nightmare 5K.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of our YAF events or have any other questions, please contact our Program Director Alivia Nelson via email at [email protected] or call our office at (218) 727-0947.
